Courtney Keegan-Smith grew up in a small town outside of Hershey, Pennsylvania, with a population of just 500. From a young age, she dreamed big and sought to make a meaningful impact. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue opportunities in community service, student leadership, and organizing complex initiatives. She managed club funds and contracts, creating systems from scratch to handle millions of dollars annually, while volunteering with children and families to improve their futures.
Driven by a desire to solve problems and make life easier for others, Courtney founded Tru South Moving & Hauling with the goal of making moving, organizing, and junk removal services accessible, affordable, and stress-free. Drawing on her extensive experience working with teams, coordinating projects, and managing complex operations, she built a company that prioritizes reliability, clear communication, and customer satisfaction.

Tru South Moving & Hauling was founded by two owners who know the moving industry inside and out. One owner manages everything behind the scenes, overseeing operations, customer experience, and ensuring every detail runs smoothly so clients get a seamless and stress-free move.
The other owner is on the front lines of every move, working alongside the crews to ensure each job is handled efficiently and professionally. With over 10 years of hands-on experience, they train and mentor the team, making sure every customer feels confident, cared for, and satisfied.
Together, they built Tru South to do things differently. Their mission is to provide a reliable and professional moving, organization, and junk removal experience that is affordable and accessible to everyone. You only pay for the crew, equipment, and time you actually need, nothing more.

Our Story
The idea for Tru South Moving & Hauling started with a move—well, actually, a couple of moves. Recently, our founder, Courtney Keegan-Smith, needed to move just a few pieces of furniture into a storage unit. What should have been a simple task quickly turned frustrating when she was hit with an outrageous quote, loaded with hidden fees. That experience left a bad taste in her mouth—but it was only the beginning.
A few months later, Courtney faced a much bigger move: relocating to another city. She reached out to every moving company in Eastern Tennessee, only to find prices that were completely out of reach. She could not afford to hire help, and the stress of figuring out how to manage a move alone was overwhelming. It became painfully clear—moving had become unnecessarily expensive and inaccessible for people who just needed a helping hand.
Rather than accept the status quo, Courtney decided to do something about it. She built Tru South Moving & Hauling with one goal in mind: to make moving, organizing, and junk removal services affordable, accessible, and hassle-free. She wanted to create a company that didn’t nickel-and-dime clients, didn’t hide fees, and treated every move as a priority, no matter the size or distance.
